A vacant insurance office building at 1502 Lafayette Parkway is being demolished to make way for construction of a new McDonald’s restaurant.

Jim Daniel of Daniel Realty and Insurance, whose family leased the property to McDonald’s after several months of negotiations, said construction will begin shortly and the restaurant is planned to open this fall. The McDonald’s corporation is building the facility, using a new prototype design without a playground, and will lease it to a local franchisee.

“We didn’t want to sell the property,” Daniel said, “so leasing it seemed like a good option.”

LaGrange’s three existing McDonald’s restaurants are all expected to remain open, Daniel said.
