The 9-10 Troup County all-stars are on their way to the championship game in the Dixie Youth Baseballl World Series in Laurel, Miss.

Troup defeated Mississippi 16-3 in four innings Thursday morning, earning a date with Alabama at 6 p.m. for a chance at the tournament title.

Troup has run-ruled three straight opponents, including a pair of lopsided wins over Mississippi on Wednesday and Thursday after dropping the World Series opener to the same team.

“We’re hitting awfully well right now,” said head coach Jay Anderson. “The kids are hot at the plate.”

Jake Farrar pitched all four innings, and also had a home run in the second inning. Farrar has hit a homer in each of the past four games, including a pair of grand slams during victories Monday and Tuesday.

Ken Truitt had a three-run homer in the third inning, and he finished with five RBIs.

Luke Elder had three RBIs on two hits, and Champ Willis notched two hits and two RBIs. Noah Hammett also had an RBI single.

Anderson feelsgood about his team’s chances against Alabama, which also has one tournament loss.

“If we play like we have been, we’ll do well,” Anderson said. “We’re back to playing like we did at state. We don’t make many mistakes.”
