The incident took place about 8:45 p.m. Thursday near Whitesville Road and Handley Street. Officers chased the man through Harvey Hill Homes, arrested him and took him to Troup County Jail.
He was charged with obstruction, driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, having an open container, driving unlicensed and improper backing.
Man pleads for jail time
A man in the Summit station at 208 Vernon St. was told by the store clerk to leave about 3 a.m. Friday.
LaGrange police said the man told police he wanted to go to jail, and if they didn’t take him there, he would steal something from the store.
Officers handcuffed the man, took him to Troup County Jail and charged him with criminal trespass.
Arrests
— Britney Leigh Harris, 20, of Lower Big Springs Road was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
— Randall Kevin Brown, 39, of Opelika, Ala., was charged by Troup County sheriff’s deputies with aggravated child molestation.
— A resident of the 100 block of Cedar Creek Court said a thief broke into his residence and took a video game system, computer monitor and a lock box containing old coins and various papers. The loss was estimated at $610.
