Mrs. Lera Ann Starr, 86, of LaGrange passed away Saturday, August 15, 2009, at LaGrange Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Starr was born March 26, 1923 in Wadley, Ala., daughter of the late Joseph Franklin and Mittie Pinkard Kent. Mrs. Starr lived here most of her life and was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Pleasant Grove Quilters Club, and was retired from Duracell since 1988.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Rick Starr and Jack Jr. and Debbie Starr, all of LaGrange; granddaughters, Lauren Beamon and Jessica Beamon, both of NC; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Starr Sr.; brothers, Denson Kent and Walter Kent; and a sister, Essie Mae Lester.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 Tuesday at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with Rev. John Mattox officiating. Interment will be at Restlawn Memory Gardens.

The family will be at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Jack Jr. and Debbie Starr, at 278 Rakestraw Road, and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

Flowers will be accepted, or contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Starr to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 3704 Hamilton Road, LaGrange, GA 30240.
