Troup County sheriff’s deputies said two men with a shotgun entered the store and took an undisclosed amount of money, then ran north on Hogansville Road.
Shortly afterward, La-Grange police stopped a car at Wood Glen apartments on North Cary Street after a brief chase and arrested Sean Bradford McDowell, 23, of LaGrange, who was charged with the armed robbery.
“The other guy had already been let out somewhere,” said sheriff’s Chief Investigator Charles Nixon.
Facebook threats
A Troup County schoolteacher who communicates with a few of her students on Facebook said she warned the students about cursing and then started receiving threatening messages such as, “Don’t tell me not to cuss bitch. I will kill you. I know where you live.”
The teacher reported the incident to sheriff’s deputies and she also planned to advise Facebook.
Dog causes wreck
Arthur Lattimer of 3078 Hamilton Road said he was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle through his trailer park Friday afternoon when a dog tried to attack him, causing him to wreck the vehicle, which sustained minor damage to the front fender, clutch, left turn signal and battery cover.
Thefts,burglaries
— A resident of the 400 block of Newton Road said a thief broke into his residence and took unspecified items.
— A 1989 Chevrolet Caprice was stolen from C and C Body Shop at 2136 Hamilton Road, where it had been taken for repairs. The car had no interior or tail lights.
— A resident of the 2200 block of Hamilton Road reported the theft of two motorcycles from a fenced-in shed behind his residence.The motorcycles were a yellow 2003 Suzuki and a blue 2002 Yamaha.
— A thief broke into a home in the 3600 block of Roanoke Road and stole a DVD player and jewelry with a combined estimated value of $1,240. A window air-conditioning unit had been pushed onto the bedroom floor.
— Another burglary was reported in the 300 block of Oak Grove Road, but details were not available.
— A change jar and cell phone, with a total value of $375, were taken from a residence in the 700 block of Colquitt Street.
— A set of speakers valued at $400 was taken from a vehicle at Carquest Auto Parts at 1027 Hogansville Road.
Assaults probed
LaGrange police handled four aggravated assault reports over the weekend.
— A resident of the 100 block of Handley Street told police a man she knew pushed her down and argued with her all day Friday before pulling a handgun on her about 9 p.m.
The woman ran from the man and locked herself and her children in the building. The man entered her vehicle and took her purse from the truck of her car.
— Two men were robbed at gunpoint by three men in the 200 block of Handley Street.
Officers said the two were told to go to the area to purchase marijuana about 10:30 p.m. Friday and were robbed instead.
The thieves took two cell phones, $25 and an MP3 player.
— A Whitesville Street man was jumped by two men and stabbed after leaving the American Legion about 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
A friend with the victim told police the man had gotten into an argument with two other men at the club. Later, the man was attacked by two men, who stabbed him four times in the stomach and left arm before fleeing.
The victim was treated at West Georgia Medical Center.
— A woman was struck in the head with a bottle during an argument about 3:20 a.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Turner Street.
Officers said warrants have been issued for Kevin Allen, 23, of Buchanan Street for aggravated as-sault.
The victim said she had gotten into an argument with Allen before he began throwing various objects at her and struck her with a belt.
She was treated at the medical center.
