Located near Crestwood Drive and Young’s Mill Road, Homecoming is a 175-acre community planned for about 650 residences and designed by Pathway Communities in Peachtree City, also the principal designer of that planned city.
Houses are priced from $140,000 to $200,000.
“We are excited about it,” said Phil Corley, vice president of marketing for Pathway Communities. “We are designing the amenities right now, and there’s going to be some amenities definitely not present in LaGrange right now.”
City Council accepted the streets in the development Aug. 11. Now that Homecoming Parkway, Celebration Boulevard, Tradition Place and Yellow Ribbon Lane are recognized by the city, construction is close to starting.
“The roads were dedicated,” said Alton West, the city’s director of community development. “Now that they have been accepted, they can start pulling building permits.”
Pathway Communities is planning on a first phase of about 70 houses, West said, much like the site’s previous developer.
Homecoming will be located on the same spot as the Wetherly subdivision that had been planned for Young’s Mill Road by Reese Developers in Hampton and would have had its first phase completed last summer.
The city began discussions of Wetherly in late 2006. Since then, Homecoming is one of few developments planned inside the city and one of the first to be announced in some time.
The planning group is looking at about 650 houses, “which we would welcome, very much so,” West said.
Pathway Communities purchased the land from Reese Developers and is preparing to begin Homecoming. It plans on announcing the amenities for the community in the coming weeks and wants to begin construction soon after the plans are finalized.
“LaGrange is a great place to be with a growing population there,” Corley said. “We’re excited about getting involved with the community.”
