LaGrange police Cpl. D.L. LaMee said a man on a Honda sport bike was northbound on Polk Street at 5:10 p.m. when a man on a bicycle turned in front of him.
“The motorcycle T-boned the bicycle,” LaMee said.
The motorcyclist, Brian Carroll, 35, of Hogansville Road, was not wearing a helmet. His speed was estimated at 100 mph when he struck Lashaun Burks, 22, of Lindsey Street.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene by Troup County Coroner Jeff Cook.
Police said Carroll, who recently moved from Carrollton, had been working on the motorbike all day, putting two motorcycles together to make one working vehicle.
Police and LaGrange firefighters had a large portion of Polk Street blocked from Handley Street to Lindsey Street. Large crowds of spectators gathered at both ends of the street as authorities worked the scene behind a large red tarp.

There is no control at that speed.
