Police saw a drunken man sitting in a chair in the middle of the 400 block of South Lewis Street about 1 a.m. Friday.

When asked what he was doing, the man said he was “tired of sitting on his porch,” so he decided to sit in the street. Officers attempted to get him to move, saying if he was found in the street again he would be taken to jail.

The man said, “I don’t give a damn,” was handcuffed and charged with being a pedestrian under the influence.

Arrest

Demetrius Dukes, 31, of South Lee Street was charged with a sex offense and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Wreck

One person was injured in a two-car wreck about 1:30 p.m. Friday on New Franklin Road near Burger King.

LaGrange police said Wendel Arrington, 69, of LaGrange was traveling toward Commerce Avenue when a vehicle pulled into the path of his Toyota Tacoma, causing him to slam on the brakes. An Acura SLX driven by Crystal Swann, 33, of Hines Road traveling behind Arrington then struck the truck in the rear.

Arrington was treated at West Georgia Medical Center.

Swann was cited for following too closely.

Guilty plea

Randolph Ray Poole, 34, of LaGrange was sentenced to three years in prison Friday after he pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
