The field is set for Nov. 3 municipal elections in LaGrange, West Point and Hogansville.
In LaGrange, all the qualifiers are unopposed for a four-year term, including incumbent Mayor Jeff Lukken, and City Council members Nick Woodson and Norma Tucker. Jim Thornton, an attorney, qualified for Tom Gore’s council seat after Gore announced he would not seek re-election.
West Point will elect three council members, while Hogansville will elect a mayor and two council members.
In Hogansville, the mayor will be decided in a three-way race. Incumbent Mayor Jimmy Jackson is facing a challenge from Andy Brubaker, former chairman of the Hogansville Downtown Development Authority; and Jim Karbaelas, a retired Federal Express employee, former real estate broker and the former owner of Pizza Stop restaurant. Karbaelas was the final qualifier Friday afternoon.
Incumbent Councilman Bobby Joe Frazier has two challengers: Derrick Hay, an environmental activist, and Dixie Quinn, a graduate of the city’s first-ever Hogansville Citizens Police Academy.
Incumbent Charlie Frank Martin faces a challenge from Scott Worthy, a real estate broker.
In West Point, three incumbents whose seats are up for election have just one challenger. Council members Joe Downs, Darren Kelley and Judy Wilkinson all qualified this past week for re-election. Challenger Gloria Ramsey Marshall qualified Friday afternoon.
