The race begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at City Park in West Point. The trails go through the Trust For Public Land wildlife area next to the park, and the canoeing course is on the Chattahoochee River.
“This year should be very exciting; we already have teams from Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida signed up,” organizer Tracy Martin said.
Formally called “Adventure Jam at West Point Dam,” the race is good for those new to the sport but “will be challenging for the crazy guys too,” Martin said.
In past years, more than 30 teams from local residents to out-of-towners have taken part.
Racers will tackle 12 miles of mountain biking on several new single-track trails, three to four miles of hiking and two miles of paddling in a canoe.
Participants also will face “mystery events” included in every race and the obstacle course - this year with a twist.
Only three-member teams are allowed and spectators were asked to take their families, as the transition area will be a good spot to enjoy the show. The West Point course is one of seven races in the national Trailblazer series this year.
Registration is $50 a person for Trailblazer members and $65 a person for other participants.
