About 200 people, including Troup High class of 1984 classmates and their families, attended tailgating festivities before the school’s football game Friday night, kicking off a reunion weekend.

More than 250 are signed up for a Saturday picnic, and a reception at Best Western Lafayette Garden Inn is scheduled for Saturday night.

It’s the first official reunion for the class since graduation 25 years ago. Technology not available in 1984, such as e-mail and social networking sites like Facebook, helped find most of the classmates, who had an “unofficial reunion” on Facebook earlier this year.

The class now has its own Web site, www.trouptigersclassof84.com, where classmates and others who went to Troup during the same years can register and share information and photos, including photos from the reunion weekend.
