The school purchased a 50-acre tract of land that stretches behind its current facilities on Hamilton Road, behind Troup High School property, extending all the way to Interstate 85.
A board-governed Christian school, LCS is in its sixth year, operating first in a local church, then moving in 2007 to the Hamilton Road facilities formerly occupied by West Georgia Christian Academy.
The school has continued to grow, even in the midst of a struggling economy, said headmaster John Cipolla.
“Enrollment has gone from 155 to 385 students and much of that growth has been in the upper school where we’ve increased 96 percent in the last three years,” Cipolla said.
The school purchased the property, which is currently wooded acreage, for continued expansion. The first use will be to provide practice fields for the school’s expanding sports program. Currently the school has one practice field used by five football and soccer teams.
Long-term goals for the new property include two separate campuses - one for upper school, one for the lower school.
“We’re just amazed at the opportunity that we were given to expand the facilities and our vision,” said John Spaggiari, a school board member since the school’s beginning.
