More than 100 motorcycles and support vehicles passed through Troup County on Tuesday afternoon as they escorted a 9/11 memorial from New York City to the National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning.

The memorial, a steel beam from the World Trade Center, was carried on a flat-bed trailer.

The escort included several New York City firefighters, some of whom responded to the 9/11 attacks, as well as Engine 343, a 1951 fire truck engraved with the names of all the firefighters who died when the Twin Towers collapsed.

LaGrange firefighter Sgt. Sean Guerrero joined the procession in Newnan.
