Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 9, 2008 at First Baptist Church, Manchester with the Reverend Bill Strandberg officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Saturday evening. Burial will be in the family cemetery in Warm Springs.
Mrs. Barnes was born June 2, 1932 in Seattle, Washington, daughter of Admiral Harold H. Tiemroth and Evelyn Tiemroth. She was married to then Ensign Clifford Paul Barnes on November 1, 1952 in San Diego, California.
She accompanied her husband to various duty stations during his 23 years of active duty with the Navy. Karen and her husband, Paul returned to his family home place in Warm Springs in 1974, upon his retirement from the Navy.
Karen took great pleasure in ministering to others through programs such as Hope Harbor, LaGrange Crisis Pregnancy Center and home bible studies. She especially enjoyed ministering to teenage girls at the family farm using horses to impact their lives for Jesus Christ. Karen was an active member of County Line Church, Warm Springs, GA.
Survivors include her husband, Paul Barnes of Warm Springs; four daughters and their husbands: Annette and Steve Humphrey of Manchester, Kathy and John Corpus, Shelly and Mike Testa all of Warm Springs and Audrey and Matt Parsons of Macdoel, CA; and seven grandchildren.
