I just wanted to say that I love my country and consider myself a patriot, loyalist and a person who is so proud to be an American. I thank God that I was born in this country where we have freedom and justice for all. I thank the doctors that have written articles like Dr. West, Dr. Beatty and the others. They were supportive of the insurance plan that the Democrats are trying to pass with no support from the Republicans, period. I don’t understand the self-appointed patriots, what have they done to deserve to be called patriots.
Doesn’t the so-called TEA Party know that Americans are dying for us right now? They are giving their all. The real are Patriots people like Corey Spates and my son, Harvey Moore Jr. and many more from our country right now. They are giving their all.
All the Tea party is doing is griping about taxes. Is that all you have to give? Shame on you. I would gladly give something so others could have insurance like I do. You all probably have good insurance provided by the government. Don’t you know Medicare is a government provided plan passed by Democrats or a retirement plan provided for retired and active US government employees?
I have government insurance from the US Postal Service and the government pays 50 percent of my premiums. Congress has good insurance. The veterans have a government-backed insurance. Why can’t the public? I am very fortunate I have every thing I need. I have been retired 19 years (what could be better), but I would like for others to have what I have even if it means I have to pay more taxes. Thank you.

There a few mistakes in your comments below. First, making use of educational opportunities doesn't mean financial aide, and even if it did many people actually earn scholarships and most all are not government funded. Many take school loans and work to pay them off instead of waiting on the government to hand them out. Secondly, everyone has access to free healthcare, just visit the local overcrowded ER and see for yourself all the non-emergent cases. Many of these are the people that will never pay their bills or are on medicare and medicaid and come out everytime they cough or scratch themselves instead of seeing a personal doctor.
Next, unemployment needs to be limited to 3 months max, and after that your on your own. Anyone can find a job somewhere in that time. Medicare and Social Security should only be for those who paid into the system and not for every illegal, or the stay at home mom that never worked. Medicaid should be eliminated as should WICC because of the overwhelming abuse of the system. Make people take responsibilty for themselves and their actions to support their families.
People in this country need to be made to be accountable for themselves, when you and your husband had a job the two of you should have done more to build a savings pay down debt so you could have afforded this bump in the road, or not have a house you couldn't afford.
The true patriot is not those who need a government mandated bill to make themselves feel better like they are helping others, but those that willingly donate time and money to help others.
You are against a program that would make healthcare available to everyone, regardless of status, then in the next statement you say you "made use" of educational opportunities - I would assume that means that you received financial aide?
So, you are against all people having healthcare but, it's okay if we give all people the opportunity to get an education? if they are not alive or healthly enough - how are they going to take advantage of the financial assistance offered?
Are you against Social Security for those over 65? people are eligible even if they never worked.
What about Un-Employment?& Medicaid/Medicare/WIC?
All of these are programs are sponsored by OUR National Gov't so, in one way or another we are all paying for those programs.
Having a car & buying car insurance is a privilege - but, being able to receive medical assistance should be a right!
I'd do without a car so, my Mom could have health insurance and could get the proper medication to control her diabetes. Even though, she is getting some assistance with paying for her meds - she can't afford to buy the strips, and lancets necessary to track her illness.
I don't think I am wrong to want to see her live long enough to see her only grandson - marry and have children of his own.
The definition of patriot: one who loves and loyally or zealously supports one's own country and supports its authority and interests.
So,who is the true patriot? I would say that someone who is willing to help his fellow man - even those he doesn't know and will probably never meet, meets the criteria and that seems to apply to Mr. Harvey Moore.
I fully support any program that supports my country and my countrymen and most of those are introduced by the Democratic party.
And, for the record - I have a college degree, so does my husband and we have worked hard for all of our lives to have careers that would provide compensation and benefits. Last year, my company lost their contract for the State of Georgia, and a few months later - my husbands Engineering firm - folded up. So, we have lost our "Dream Home", a vehicle, our way of life and our insurance coverage - through no fault of ours.
So, during this time we don't deserve healthcare? The healthcare program has to be available for everyone - or who would make the decision who would be eligible? should it be you?
I wonder at the sentiment expressed of being willing to assist by paying more in taxes. Why are you waiting for the government to mandate something from you in order to help a fellow human being? Some of us do contribute to groups that provide assistance to those less fortunate or take it upon ourselves to buy a meal, a warm jacket, school supplies, or what is needed by others without waiting for the government to take from us to give to others. If you're really willing to help others, reach into your pocket and do so.
