Understand why people are angry

Former President Jimmy Carter recently upset people when he said that most white people angry at President Obama are racists. Yes, there are some racists in every country. However, the whites who are irate at the president are generally not racists. Why, then are they so angry at the president?

What concerns many- including me- is that the president continues to spend money we don’t have. Frankly, it makes me mad. I don’t blame people- black and white- for being so upset.

My wife and I live in a Troup County home we bought two years ago, and with my present income, we can afford to make the mortgage payments. But we cannot afford to live in a million dollar home. Therefore, we choose to be financially responsible and live in a smaller home.

In other words, we are living within our means. The president and Congress should do the same. Millions of Americans are incensed that governments are not willing to do what they (the people) do.

Glenn Beck has written that most Americans dislike the president and Congress because most of our politicians- Republican and Democract- are bought and sold by lobbyists. There are literally thousands of special interests who give billions of dollars to politicians for special favors.

I am angry because the president is against term limits. Unlike Washington and Jefferson, today’s politicos primarily want to get re-elected. That includes Obama.

President Obama has angered many people because he broke his promise of bipartisanship. During the campaign his presidency would be “change we can believe in”. Unfortunately President Obama has broken his promise to work with Republicans.

People are angry with the president because the economy is still in a mess. In times like these, folks are not happy campers. If the unemployment rate were 1 percent, the president would be more popular. I am sure he is hoping and praying that things will get better.

I understand why millions are so angry. In my opinion they have a legitimate right to be that way. My main concern is that someone will get so irate that he will try to harm the president. No one should want that to happen.

My spouse and I both work, we live within our means. It is getting more difficult to live due to the fact that everything keeps going up, taxes, food, gas, utilities etc. everything except for our wages. Even if you get a cost of living raise it can't make up for this. How much more can we stand?

The reasons why I'm angry are:

When I hear someone bragging about getting food stamps and WIC because they lie about their marital status and income. Do these agencies not verify this information? Apparently not.

When my neighbor tells me I should let my son get free lunch at school, she has 5 kids getting free lunches because she lied about their income.

Tells me I should too, because they don't verify it either.

When I hear the Government is going to tax my Employer paid Medical Insurance Premiums to help cover the cost of the Healthcare Plan. Who are these people the Healthcare is going to be for? The self employed? I have family members that are self employed with no medical coverage. They live in beautiful homes, drive expensive cars, and wear the lastest fashions, its not that they can't afford it, its because they don't want to pay for it.

When I hear Troup County Employees laugh about me paying their salaries while their hanging around for hours goofing off while their picking up supplies and then complaining about not being able to drive their trucks home due to cut backs.

When my property taxes recently were raised but my house is worth half of what it was a year ago. Because I live in a subdivision where houses were sold to people who couldn't afford them, they have been forelosed and sold very cheap, devaluing mine.

I think the good, honest people that try to do the right things are tired of everything being taken away from them and given to those who certainly don't deserve it. It has gone on too long and its time for it to stop.

I am white and I don't blame the president for anything! I do however blame the state for allowing people to draw SSI disability checks when they could be working. I am a single mother who has raised two children by myself for the past 10 years and who has worked since I was 15 years old. I am currently an Office Manager but I worked for 5 years unloading trucks at Walmart DC which is extremely hard on a 115 lbs. woman and 4 years under hot greasy tractors at Caterpillar but I knew I had children that depended on me to take care of them so I endured the best I could. I hurt my back several times at both jobs but never once left my job to apply for any SSI checks.I hear everyday that when I am older that there is a strong possibility that there may not be any social security available for me. Although there are people my age and even younger sitting in front of a computer screen checking this very web site that are able to get up and gain some type of employment doing the very same thing they are doing right now. Instead of hurting the future possibilities that people like me who have worked for 20 years will be able to get our social security that we have paid in all of these years. I guarantee you that if they passed laws that only allowed people to draw out what they have paid in those people would be working instead of staying at home. I know there are people who need SSI and I have no problem helping them out. It is those people who say their back hurt, or their feet hurt from standing on concrete for long periods at a time and apply for a SSI are allowed to receive it. Those people make me sick and they need to get off of their lazy behinds and help this economy and work! I know times are hard but if we all pull together we will prevail. Let's face it this is not the first depression and it won't be the last if we don't make some drastic changes within ourselves.
