The autopsy report of a man wanted for alleged child molestation who was found dead in a camper about 4:30 p.m. Monday said the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.

Troup County sheriff’s officials said Dennis Paul Lynaugh, 61, of Cooley Road burned the camper with gasoline and allegedly shot himself with a small revolver recovered from the fire.

Two charged in midnight burglary

Two men were charged with burglary after officers found them hiding in the bushes on the street next to the business about 12:30 a.m. today.

Police received a report of an activated business alarm from AMF Records at 703 Hines St. A window air-conditioning unit in the front of the business was pushed in, but nothing was taken.

Officers then found Daneon Kight, 20 of Wynnwood Drive and Russell Williams, 21, of Revis Street hidden in bushes on Daniel Street. Police questioned them, and both were charged with burglary.

Anyone with additional information was asked to call investigator Wayne Cato at (706) 883-2633 or Sgt. Mark Cavender at (706) 883-2630.

Shots fired at suspicious man

About 1:30 a.m. today, a resident of the 300 block of Teaver Road saw a male around his son’s pickup truck, which had been broken into last week. The man fired a pellet gun at the suspicious person, who yelled, “He shot me!” and drove away.

Nothing appeared to be missing from the truck.

Man faces drug charges

A LaGrange man was charged with possession of cocaine with an intent to distribute after the officer that charged him with driving without a license Sept. 10 saw him driving the same car again about 10 a.m. Thursday.

Police said Andrew Lee Strozier, 24, of Brown Street was seen driving the vehicle, and officers attempted to pull him over. He allegedly drove to his house, walked behind the building out of the officer’s sight and dropped cocaine on the ground.

Because Strozier couldn’t be seen, the officer unholstered his weapon, told Strozier to get on the ground and found the drugs later.

He was charged with possession with intent near a park or housing project, driving without a valid license and a parole violation.

Arrest

Martavious Gates, 19, of Whitesville Road was charged with two probation violations, obstruction, criminal trespass, two counts of selling cocaine and a drug violation near a park or housing project.
