Mrs. Rainey was born October 24, 1924 in Lafayette, AL, daughter of the late Adrian Moore and Emma Smith Moore. She had lived in LaGrange since 1963 and was a member of Baptist Tabernacle. Mrs. Rainey was retired from Playtex. She had been a member of the VFW Auxiliary since 1969. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Otis E. Rainey, and a son, Eugene Rainey.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Merle and Jimmy McMillian of LaGrange, Peggy and Ronnie Arrington of LaGrange, and Crystal and David Boyd of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Cathy Rainey of LaGrange; a sister, Sue and Freddie Smith of Lawrence, KS; two brothers, Bennie Moore and Roy and Rebecca Moore, all of LaGrange; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews including William ‘Bubba’ Evans and Travis King.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Baptist Tabernacle with Rev. Jimmy McMillian officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Baptist Tabernacle in memory of Mrs. Lillian Rainey.
