The rains came down and the runners came out!
The 9th Annual Certified Literate Community Program “Leggin’ It for Literacy” celebration started out a little damp but ended up with over 180 runners and walkers crossing the finish line. The wet weather kept the band “PAPA” from playing and the Towne Fitness Center from performing but the tot-trot, one mile run walk and 5 kilometer race went on as planned.
The LaGrange Junior Woman’s Club members, under the direction of Leggin’ It Chair Lisa Sapp, put on their rain gear, put up tents and went about the business of putting on a race. For the second year the “run downtown when the sun goes down” has proven to be popular with runners in our community.
The CLCP is grateful to the LaGrange Junior Woman’s Club, sponsors, runners, spectators, the City of LaGrange and the LaGrange Police Department for supporting this event. All proceeds stay right here in our community to promote the importance of a literate community for workforce and economic development and a better quality of life for all our residents. Thank you all for making literacy a top priority. Plan to join us next year, rain or shine, for the 10th annual Leggin’ It for Literacy.
