A flood watch for north and portions of central Georgia has been canceled. The National Weather Service said although light to occasionally moderate rain continued to fall Monday morning, heavy rain is no longer expected and the threat of flooding has diminished.
The rain, which began Sunday evening and lasted overnight, totaled 2.3 inches at midmorning Monday in LaGrange, and is expected to taper off by the afternoon and evening.
But there’s more rain in the forecast. Wednesday’s outlook calls for a 50 percent chance of rain, while a 40 percent chance is expected Friday through Sunday.
Higher temperatures should return after Monday, with the mercury reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s the rest of the week. Lows should be in the 50s and lower 60s.
