A Web site hoping to match local employers to local jobs went live Tuesday morning during the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce monthly breakfast.

The site, www.troupcountyworks.com, is open now for local businesses to register job openings and for potential employees to post resumes and find job-hunting tips. About 15 employers already had registered with the site before its “grand opening” Tuesday.

“We don’t want to leave anyone behind in Troup County,” said Kay Durand, director of the county’s strategic planning center, which will manage the free site.

The strategic planning center and Web site came out of a two-year study of the area recently completed by Georgia Tech.

“We told you we would be back,” as parts of the study turned into action, said Commission Chairman Ricky Wolfe.

Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel also spoke at the chamber breakfast.

For complete coverage of the event, see Wednesday’s LaGrange Daily News.
