Some residents of Cameron Mill Road, Country Club Drive and Clubview Drive had complained of the area becoming more dangerous due to an increase in vehicles parked by anglers seeking easy access to West Point Lake. The residents also complained of an increase in break-ins reported in the area.
“I’d like to ride it and look at it prior to making any decisions,” Councilman Bobby Traylor said.
Councilman Tom Gore, chairman of the public safety committee, excused himself from any votes because he is a resident of the neighborhood.
Council scheduled a public hearing on the proposed ordinance Oct. 27.
In other matters Tuesday, council discussed an ordinance that would prohibit some primary roads from having adult entertainment businesses.
The ordinance would amend the zoning ordinance to keep any sexually oriented businesses from being created within the P-1 parkway overlay zones, which stretch from downtown LaGrange down Lafayette Parkway to Interstate 85 and from Morgan Street connecting with New Franklin Road to Wal-Mart.
The zones encompass areas within 500 feet of the roadways’ center lines.
A public hearing on the ordinancewill be held Nov. 3.
