The female clerk handed over undisclosed amount of cash from the register, and the robbers fled.
Insurance agent investigated
A man selling insurance targeted a LaGrange woman and took about $95 from her bank account.
The woman was offered life insurance for her father through Forrester Insurance and accepted. The agent asked for her bank account number to withdraw funds.
Later, the woman called the company to verify the agent’s information and learned that he was under investigation by the company.
She removed her application for the policy, but two charges were made on her account - one for insurance through Liberty Mutual and another for insurance through American Pioneer, companies that the agent works for independently.
No arrests were made.
Woman punched at hair braiding
A woman said she was punched in the face by her ex-boyfriend’s nephew while getting her hair braided about 2:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said the victim was at her sister’s residence in the 100 block of Mitchell Avenue while the nephew was there.
The woman and the nephew began to argue about a temporary protection order the woman had taken out on the man’s uncle.
The nephew allegedly became angry, yelled “You can’t take a TPO out on me” and punched her. When police arrived, the woman appeared to be hyperventilating and her left cheek was red and swollen. She was treated at West Georgia Medical Center.
No arrests were made.
Frat house party crashed by police
A party was crashed and three people cited for underage drinking about 2 a.m. today at the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity house on College Avenue.
After a report of loud music coming from the house about 11 p.m. Wed-nesday, a police officer went to the residence and gave a warning.
Another report was made about 2 a.m. Because an officer had visited the house within three hours, police gave a citation for the loud music. While speaking with the person in charge of the party, two women attempted to leave the house.
Officers caught up with them, a 20-year-old and an 18-year-old, and they were cited for underage consumption of alcohol. A male later was cited with underage consumption.
Fake-blood vandalism
Somebody spray-painted fake blood in a women’s restroom at Long Cane Access off West Point Road. Ranger Fred Matthies estimated the damage at $200.
‘Out for a walk’
A 30-year-old woman was seen walking in the middle of South Davis Road about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, causing traffic to come to a complete stop.
“I asked her what she was doing in the middle of the road and she stated that she was out for a walk,” sheriff’s deputy Jeff Walker said.
She was charged with being a pedestrian under the influence.
Arrest
Darren Scott, 37, of Montgomery, Ala., was charged by Hogansville police with possession of marijuana with an intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, driving on a suspended or revoked license, having a defective taillight, and operating a motor vehicle without proof of insurance.
Forgery
A North Cary Street resident said more than $2,500 charged on her bank cards.
Police said a caretaker was supposed to make charges at Wal-Mart, Rite Aid and Food Depot for the woman, but about 30 charges had been made around town over a four-month period.
No arrests were made.
Stolen vehicles recovered
An estimated $23,000 worth of vehicles were stolen from Dudley’s Outdoors on West Point Road, but sheriff’s deputies recovered most of them.
A deputy had seen juveniles riding four-wheelers about 10 p.m. Saturday near McDonald Oil Co. on West Lukken Industrial Drive. When he tried to stop the juveniles, they ran into the woods.
Deputies searched the woods and recovered three all-terrain vehicles, two dirt bikes and plastic gas cans with a combined value of $10,948. Still missing was a four-wheel-drive utility vehicle valued at $12,000.
Thefts, burglaries
— A thief took a gray Panasonic flat-screen TV valued at $372 from a bedroom in the 100 block of Wright Street.
— A $200 stereo was taken from a residence in the 800 block of Georgia Avenue.
— Items valued at about $700 were stolen from the West Point Recreation Department on U.S. 29.
— Contractors working on a vacant house owned by Larry Pike at 1028 Highway 100 West near Hogansville reported the theft of an estimated $5,800 worth of construction equipment they had left at the house overnight. Copper tubing and wiring also was cut from a new air-conditioning unit that had been installed Tuesday.
— A man reported the theft of a friend’s boat from the storage area at Highland Marina.
— A man in the 100 block of Norwood Drive near Hogansville reported the theft of a weed trimmer and blower from a utility trailer next to his residence. They were valued at $900.
Damage
Someone drove over a mailbox valued at $200 in the 200 block of Chase Road.
Guilty plea
David Junior Clark, 25, of Pensacola, Fla., was sentenced to three years in prison and four years’ probation Wednesday in Troup Superior Court after he pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute ecstasy.
