Organizers of Hogansville’s 12th annual Hummingbird Festival said the cold temperatures didn’t slow down festivities this weekend.

“There was no sun on Saturday and that hurt us a little,” said festival chairman Ralph Lynch.

But that only meant that many more came out Sunday for the event that features craft booths, all varieties of food and games and activities for children.

“The sun brought out a lot of people today,” Lynch said as the festival activities wrapped up Sunday afternoon. “The crowds have been real steady. It’s gone great and we’re very pleased.”

The Hummingbird Festival dinner, which kicked off the event Thursday night, raised about $2,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of West Georgia. Festival money goes to support matching grants for redevelopment projects in Hogansville, but a few years ago, organizers chose to split the proceeds of the silent auction held at the dinner with a local charity.

It’s the second year in a row the festival chose to support the Boys & Girls Club.

Enjoyed the event, and happy to know that it raised fundings for the children center in Georgia.
