In contrast to that Jones “story”, the mainstream knows that the Hannity and Beck types are only slightly to the left of Attila the Hun in politics and further to the right of Pat Robertson in terms of fantasy.
Did you ever wonder why a “socialist” CBS station would air the 700 Club every weekday morning? Is it just to provide entertainment to those 700 viewers? In reality, television is a business, and there are markets for all kinds of nonsense.
The racists and patriots also need their daily fixes of propaganda to keep them feeling superior. Hate radio is simply not able to reach all of them all of the time. Fox News fills the racist-patriot niche 24 hours a day.

Niche? That a pretty big niche Fox News is filling. I guess one man's "niche" is another man's ratings giant.
Freedom of speech means people get to say even the dumbest things, but it doesn't make what they say any less stupid. If the shoe fits, Smith, scrape the bubblegum off of it and keep on shuffling to the left. Keith Olbermann still loves you.
