Police said the woman walked inside Piggly Wiggly at 511 S. Greenwood St., grabbed a carton of Cool Whip and a carton of strawberries, slipped them in her purse, and walked out.
Officers arrived as the woman was getting into her car to leave. After she told them she was going to make a dessert at home, she was charged with shoplifting.
Another woman with the accused shoplifter, unaware of the theft, was still inside the store. When officers asked for her information, police said she lied to them, saying police make her nervous. She was charged with obstruction.
Robbery prompts arrest
A resident in Wynnwood Apartments off Mooty Bridge Road watched as two men burglarized a neighbor’s apartment and fled on foot.
Police said the woman woke up about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and saw two men running from the apartment carrying a white bag. A Carhartt denim jacket, a Samsung Razr cell phone and a digital camera, with a total value of $260, were taken.
Police questioned two men who later were seen leaving the woods around the apartment complex. Officers said the two were very cooperative, but one of the men was found to have a warrant for him in Meriwether County.
As officers arrested him, he phoned his mother. He began to struggle and said, “I am not going anywhere. Mama, he said I have a warrant.”
He was charged with the probation violation and resisting arrest.
Youth accused of sexual battery
A 14-year-old male student was charged with sexual battery after allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old female in the Hope Academy at 200 Mooty Bridge Road.
Police said a complaint form was filled out for the youth about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, and he was turned over to his legal guardian.
Woman pinned between vehicles
A LaGrange College student was pinned between a truck and her vehicle in the campus parking lot at 601 Broad St.
Freeman, 19, told police that her vehicle had rolled backward after she parked it and got out. She didn’t remember how she was able to get out from between the two vehicles on her own, but remembered two men standing over her asking if she was OK.
Freeman was treated at West Georgia Medical Center and released.
Man robbed of video games
A 17-year-old was robbed after walking home from Callaway Stadium.
Police said the man was in the 700 block of Dallis Street when another man in a brown jacket walked up behind him and poked him in the back with what the victim believed to be with a gun.
The robber told the man he wanted his Sony PSP, valued at $204. When the victim told him he didn’t have one, the assailant said it was in his left pants pocket, and that he would shoot him if he didn’t give it to him.
The victim handed him the device, and the robber fled toward Park Avenue.
No arrests have been made.

— Chandra Rhodes, 26, of Troup Street was charged with three counts of first-degree forgery.
— Earnest Lyman, 48, of Lanett, Ala., was charged by LaGrange police with possession of cocaine, obstruction and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
— Jamahl Cole, 21, of Troup Street was charged with use of communications facilities in drug transactions, attempting to violate the Georgia Controlled Substance Act, obstruction, knowingly driving a vehicle with suspended registration, driving without a valid license and a stop light violation.
— Jessica Hunter, 21, of North Cary Street was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.
— Tiffany Beasley, 25, of East Beasley Road in Hogansville was charged with armed robbery.
— Jeffrey Williams, 51, of Auburn, Ala., was charged by LaGrange police with possession of cocaine, use of communications facilities in drug transactions and attempting to violate the Georgia controlled substance act.
— Yvette Wilder, 40, of Askew Avenue in Hogansville was charged with possession of cocaine and failure to maintain lane.
Theft
A 15-year-old male was charged with theft after allegedly taking a PlayStation 2, eight games and a controller, with a total value of about $440.
Fire
A fire reported at 3:40 a.m. today caused an estimated $20,000 damage to the home of Debbie Wilder at 204 Merrybrook Drive in LaGrange.
Nobody was home at the time of the fire, which started in the utility room and burned through the ceiling and roof, gutting the attic.
The cause was under investigation.
