Man stabbed, woman arrested

A Whitesville Street woman was arrested after her boyfriend was stabbed in the chest with a knife.

Cheryl Ferrell, 47, of Whitesville Street was charged with aggravated assault. Officers found Fredrick Poythress, 48, lying on the front porch of the couple’s house about 1:15 a.m. Saturday.

Poythress was treated at West Georgia medical Center and released.

Man charged after robbery

A LaGrange man went to the Givorns Foods parking lot on U.S. 29 in West Point because he was interested in buying a car from an acquaintance, who showed up in a different car with three other men Friday night, police said.

Police said the acquaintance and another man got out of the back seat with guns and robbed the LaGrange man, who had the cell phone number of the acquaintance. Police called Curtis Foreman, 24, of Valley, Ala., who turned himself in on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault.

The others had not been apprehended.

Vases taken

from cemetery

About $1,850 worth of vases was taken from graves in Restlawn Memory Gardens at 2098 Mooty Bridge Road.

The caretaker said some of the vases were missing earlier in the week but thought family members were taking them to put fresh flowers, which they are prone to do.

About 20 vases had been taken from the grave sites Saturday.

Egging gets out of hand

A group of men yelled at a woman when one of their eggs struck her patio door about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the men were throwing eggs at each other’s SUVs in the 1500 block of Hogansville Road when one of the eggs struck her door. The woman walked outside to tell them she was calling the police, and they told her to die.

Man bitten by stray dog

A 19-year-old Sanford Avenue resident was bitten by a stray dog about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the man was attempting to get the animal away from his garbage, when the dog bit the top of his forefinger , then ran away.

The victim was treated at the medical center, and the dog couldn’t be found.

Arrests

— Jose Garcia-Garcia, 29, of Juniper Street was charged with child molestation.

— Curtis Maurice Foreman, 24, of Valley, Ala., was charged by West Point police with armed robbery and two counts of aggravated assault.

— Michael Weldon, 19, of Columbus was charged by Hogansville police with possession of marijuana with an intent to distribute.

Thefts, burglaries

— A 2003 blue Toyota Camry, valued at $6,000, was stolen from an apartment in the 200 block of Boulevard.

— A pink Verizon Blackberry valued at $270 was taken from a bathroom stall in Charter Bank at 555 S. Davis Road.

— About $253 worth of items was taken from a vehicle on East 6th Street in West Point.

— A thief used a coat hanger to pry open a car door and take an Alpine CD player valued at $200 from a vehicle in the 900 block of Whitesville Street.

— A thief took $150 worth of items from a vehicle on East 7th Street in West Point.

— A black leather purse containing credit cards and a cell phone, with a total value of $134, was taken from a vehicle on Fairfax Street.

— A resident of the 300 block of Teaver Road reported the theft of a 1996 Chevrolet Tahoe valued at $10,000.

— A burglar stole items valued at $700 from a home in the 100 block of Hanson Drive.

Damage

Someone struck a vehicle in the 800 block of New Franklin Road and fled, causing about $500 damage.
