Megan Johnston, a Minnesota native, heads the Millennium Court Arts Centre in Craigavon, Ireland, LaGrange’s sister city through LaGrange International Friendship Exchange. She has 20 years of experience in United States and European museums and galleries, with an emphasis on contemporary art.
“The museum has found in Megan a person with tremendous knowledge about and passion for the visual arts,” said museum board president Rick Waterhouse. “We are confident she will lead the museum to a level of excellence that will draw regional attention while meeting our community’s art education needs,” he added.
Johnston holds a bachelor of arts degree in art history from the University of Minnesota. She earned a certificate in management practice and a master of arts degree in visual culture from the University of Ulster in Belfast, Ireland. She is working on a Ph.D. from University of Ulster.
The previous executive director, Judy Wagner Freeman, is responsible for the museum’s fundraising and membership efforts.
