He will represent the state in the National Association of Secondary School Principal’s national competition. He will receive a trip to Washington, D.C., in the spring for the national program and a $500 award from Horace Mann.
Kay is a graduate of the State University of West Georgia, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish. He earned a masters degree in education leadership from Jacksonville State University and an educational specialist degree from Lincoln Memorial University.
He started his career as a classroom teacher at Central of Carroll County High School in Carrollton. He began his career in school administration three years ago at Heard County High School as an assistant principal.
Asked his philosophy of leadership, Kay said, “Love God and love others. When we do that, everything else seems to fall into place.”
