They’ve been the top dogs all season in the Troup County Parks and Recreation Commission fall football league.

And tonight at Callaway Stadium, the four teams left standing will meet for the championship.

The Textile Bowl - which has been a fixture in the county for nearly 40 years - begins at 6 p.m. with the championship game in the 9-10-year-old division, followed by the title showdown in the 11-12 division.

The four remaining teams were either a one or two seed in their respective age group.

“They’ve definitely been the best teams this year,” said Keith Williams, who coordinates the youth football program for the recreation department.

In the 9-10 division, a pair of unbeaten teams will lock horns.

The Vikings (7-0) beat the Lions and the Packers to reach this point, while the Hogansville-based Redskins (7-0) beat Holmes Pharmacy and Kia Motor.

In the 11-12 division, top-seeded Kenny Knox Tires Company (6-0) will face second-seeded Kimberly Clark (4-0-1) from West Point.

Also tonight, a pair of flag football teams will offer some halftime entertainment during the 9-10 game.

The Raiders and Panthers were the top participants in a fund-raiser sponsored by the recreation department, earning them the right to play at halftime, and they’ll meet in a seven-minute game.
