Police said four men got out of a vehicle near the victim’s residence while he was on the front porch and demanded money. One of the men appeared to have a pistol in his hand.
A fight started, and the victim punched one of the men in the face. The assailants ran back to their vehicle and fled. Nothing was taken.

Drunk looks for jail nap
An intoxicated man was nearly hit by a vehicle while attempting to get to Troup County jail for a short nap.
Police said the man stumbled into traffic near Lafayette Square and was almost hit by a vehicle.
When officers asked him how many drinks he had taken, he replied, “I don’t know. I was on my way to the jail to lay down for a minute.”
He was charged with public drunkenness and taken to the jail.
Mom, daughter face charges
A LaGrange mother was charged with furnishing alcohol to a minor after her underage daughter used the mother’s ID to get into a LaGrange bar.
Police said the woman had two identifications, but she didn’t know her daughter had taken one to get into the Lazy Peach at 121 Main St. They were sitting together inside when officers approached them.
The daughter was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor, and both were taken to Troup County jail.
Arrests
— Amberiell Hudson-Collier, 24, of Waverly Hall was charged by LaGrange police with first-degree forgery.
— Brandy Robinson, 28, of Atlanta was charged by Georgia State Patrol with theft by receiving and driving without a valid license.
— Alfredo Granados Jr., 37, of Brownsville, Texas, was charged by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation with trafficking in marijuana.
— Tucker Lee Jr., 35, of Billings Road in West Point was charged with failure to register as a sexual predator.
— Tony Williams, 28, of Lanett Avenue was charged with possession of marijuana, possession with an intent to distribute, speeding, driving under the influence and two counts possession of drug-related objects.
— Reginal Saffold, 25, of Keyes Street was charged with possession of marijuana with an intent to distribute, distribution of a controlled substance near a housing project, criminal trespass, resisting arrest, driving without a valid license, fleeing and attempting to elude, not stopping or returning to the scene of an accident, and reckless driving.
— Cecil James, 44, of Berry Hill Road was charged with theft by receiving.
— Andre Sheats, 24, of Pine Lake Road in West Point was charged with child molestation.
Guilty pleas
— Phillip Tyron Knopp, 52, of LaGrange was sentenced to three years in prison, seven years’ probation, $2,000 restitution and a $500 fine in Troup Superior Court after he pleaded guilty to failure to register as a sex offender and first-degree forgery.
— Victoria Dudley Thornton, 40, of Orangeburg, S.C., was sentenced to one year in prison, 19 years’ probation and restitution of $9,628.92 after she pleaded guilty to stealing a 2008 Lincoln Navigator from a Mike Patton car dealership and using someone else’s Social Security number to get utility service from the city of LaGrange.
