Littering is never right

Dear Editor,

I recently, in the last year, started recycling; and I am appalled at the trashy conditions at the recycling bins by Granger Park. Not only are some people too lazy to break down their cardboard boxes and just put them in the slot, it also seems that this has become a convenient location for some of them to clean out their cars of sacks, coffee cups and dirty diapers on their way to the playground.

I have also seen piles of construction debris and kitchen garbage all just thrown around on the ground. Apparently, some individuals don’t know the difference between a dump and a recycling center, but I don’t doubt that’s the case.

I have lived long enough to know that there are people in this world that can ruin things for everyone else, and you would think I would be used to it. Some people think nothing of leaving their messes for other to clean up. And of course, some workers have to clean it all us only to have it trashed again.

So the next time you people go to dump your refuse where it shouldn’t be, or decide to toss your fast-food sacks out the car window littering our streets and highways, please ask yourself, “Is this the right thing to do?” And by the way, the answer is no.
