Donations and volunteers are being sought for the 19th annual Christmas dinner at Cannon Street Elementary School, sponsored by Jake Sessions’ “Up All Night” show on TV-33.

“The need is greater than ever because more people are down on their luck,” said Frank Cox, who is helping organize the event.

He said 135 volunteers showed up for the Thanksgiving dinner at the school and “I hope they all come back for Christmas.”

Volunteers were asked to show up about 7:30 a.m. Dec. 25 with canned soft drinks. Meals will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Items needed for the dinner include hams and turkeys, dressing, vegetables, fruit, rolls, desserts, drinks and plastic cutlery.

Canned goods and monetary gifts can be dropped off at TV-33 on Fort Drive, WTRP radio station on New Franklin Road, Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home on Hamilton Road, Parmer Brothers Grocery on Vernon Road, Roots and Branches beauty salon on Hamilton Road, and DJ’s Wings and Things at 625 Jefferson St. and 1305 Hogansville Road.

Checks should be made payable to Up All Night Charities.

For more information, call Sessions at (706) 884-6963 or Cox at (706) 412-7160.
