Mantarbi Kenyatta Dix, 30, won’t be eligible for parole because he had at least three prior felonies, said assistant district attorney William Hocutt IV.
Dix was stopped on West Point Road near Potts Road about 12:35 p.m. Jan. 5 and then fled on foot, leaving his 10-year-old son in the car. A bag of cocaine was found on the ground where Dix had fallen going up a hill, and he was apprehended a short distance away.
Guns found
A Carrollton man was riding a four-wheeler Wednesday at McCosh Mill Park when he discovered two .22-caliber rifles and a 12-gauge shotgun with the barrel partially sawed off in the mud near the shoreline of West Point Lake.
Troup County sheriff’s deputies searched the area, but didn’t find any other weapons. The rifles and shotgun were placed into the evidence locker at the sheriff’s department.
