To remember veterans, the West Georgia Veterans’ Council and the American Legion in Hogansville will hold their annual services Tuesday.
The ceremony in LaGrange will be at 11 a.m. at the Troup County Veterans’ Memorial, outside the Government Center.
“We plan to read the names of those veterans from our area who have passed away during the past year,” said Bernard Bledsoe, member of the Marine Corps League.
The Elms and Roses Garden Club also will be on hand to dedicate the “Blue Star By-Way” plaque the group obtained for display at the memorial. The plaque reads “A tribute to the armed forces of America.”
The Blue Star fund is sponsored by the National Garden Club and began dedicating highways in 1946. A separate program for other historic sites, parks and civic areas was begun in 1994.
Hogansville’s American Legion post will hold a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvin Hipp Memorial Park downtown.
In case of rain, the ceremony will be held inside Hogansville First United Methodist Church.
