Dear Editor:

As a veteran of World War II, I would like to thank the LaGrange Elks lodge and all those participating for their Veterans Day event in which I heard approximately 600 veterans from Troup County and the surrounding area were fed a delicious meal and recognized for their services and sacrifices to our great country.

I am sure the weather and other events cut down on the attendance, but it was still one of the largest and most successful of its kind held locally in many years.

I mm sorry to say that it was not publicized in the local news media to the extent that an event in Columbus also recognizing veterans was and for a much smaller group attending.

At any rate, I want the local Elks and all those participating to know how much it was appreciated by all veterans, their families and friends.
