The storm is forecast to move from southwest Alabama into western Georgia, bringing rain to central Georgia after sunset today. The greatest chance of snow is north of a line from Franklin to Marietta, with the north Georgia mountains possibly receiving 1 to 2 inches.
Any snow in Troup County should stick only on grassy and elevated areas, and will melt as temperatures rise into the 40s Saturday, forecasters said.
Tonight’s forecast for Troup County calls for a low in the mid-30s with a 60 percent chance of rain and snow after midnight, with little or no snow accumulation.
Saturday’s outlook is for cloudy skies and a 50 percent chance of snow and rain in the morning, then be-coming mostly sunny with a high in the lower 40s.
The mercury should plunge to the lower 20s Saturday night.
