The woman, a former employee, went to the business to get paid and was asked to leave.
Police said the woman didn’t have the weapon on her, but was known to carry one. She was found sitting behind the receptionist desk, wanting to be paid. Officers told her the payment would be a civil matter handled through the court system.
Later, the woman left the business without incident.
Man accused of aiding thief
A man broke into the storage shed of a residence in the 200 block of Colquitt Street, rolled about $650 of various tools in trash cans to a nearby residence and paid the owner to hold them, police said.
The tools’ owner later learned that his items were for sale at a Watson Street residence. Otis Rutledge, 39, told officers that a man drags items to his residence in trash cans and gives him money to hold them.
Officers charged Rutledge with theft by receiving stolen property.
Rutledge said the man recently took about $100 worth of goods from a barbecue place on Hamilton Road. Police received a report Dec. 8 of a man who fled after dumping over trash cans. A propane tank and clothes were found in the cans.
Argument erupts at car dealership
A resident and a car salesman argued Wednesday over the down payment of a vehicle and almost fell into a struggle.
Police said the two men began arguing over the down payment when the salesman said he couldn’t hold it for the resident. The man told officers the salesman wasn’t treating him right, and the salesman said the resident followed him to the manager’s office and told him he was going to hell. The manager stepped between the two. No one was charged.
