The championship round of the Carrollton-Central Holiday Classic will have a decidedly LaGrange High feel to it today.

The Lady Grangers and Grangers both won their games Friday night to advance to the championship round of the tournament at Central-Carrollton High.

LaGrange’s girls will take on Villa Rica at 6 p.m., with the boys facing Carrollton at 7:30 p.m.

The Grangers (7-0) are trying to snare a tournament title and keep their unbeaten season alive.

“It’ll be a classic Carrollton-LaGrange matchup,” Pauley said.

LaGrange advanced to the title game with a 71-51 thumping of Oxford (Ala.).

Antoine Green led the way with 13 points, and 12 of the 13 players who saw time on the court scored.

The Grangers got up by as many as 30 points in the second half after leading 34-21 at the break.

“Defensively, we played well,” Pauley said. “In the second half, we did a good job of converting fast-break points.”

The Lady Grangers (6-1) handled Central-Carrollton 60-46 to earn their title shot.

Arneshia Williams scored 14 points to pace LaGrange, while Brittany Tatum scored nine points.

Steara Mitchell and Angel Penn added eight points apiece.

Down by three at the half, LaGrange outscored Central 22-2 in the third period to take control.

“They stepped it up and started playing defense,” LaGrange coach Jan Jones said. “We started getting steals, creating turnovers.”

Jones called it “probably the best game we’ve played as a team. We played really well together. We spread the floor, moved the ball around. Nobody was selfish with the ball.”
