All the LaGrange Grangers do is win.
The Grangers have stepped onto the court nine times this season, and nine times they’ve walked away with a victory.
The latest win came Monday afternoon at a tournament in Opelika (Ala.).
Five different players scored in double figures as the Grangers (9-0) thumped Russell County 81-68.
Qua Hardy led the Grangers with 22 points, while Martez Johnson scored 13.
Dionte Mains (12 points), Jamius Gunsby (11 points) and Royal Thomas (10 points) also scored in double figures.
The Grangers were up 22-15 after the first quarter, and they led 40-33 at the break.
Russell County pulled even at one point in the third quarter, but LaGrange regained control to lead 59-52 heading into the fourth period.
Russell County got as close as six points with two minutes left before La-Grange finally put the game on ice.
The Grangers made 19 of their 26 free-throw attempts.
Today at 6:30 p.m., LaGrange and Auburn will meet in the tournament semifinals.
Auburn beat Miami (Fla.) to advance.
“We play a really good team. We’ll see what happens,” LaGrange assistant coach Mark Veal said. “It’ll be a good contest. All the teams here are really good.”
