Keep Troup Beautiful will conduct its annual “Bring One for the Chipper” and electronics waste collection from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday n the parking lots of Home Depot on Lafayette Parkway in LaGrange.

Residents may drop off Christmas trees that will be deposited in local lakes, ponds and other water sites for fish habitat or mulched for use gardens and yards. Residents may take bags and collect mulch for use in environmental projects.

Trees also may be dropped off at the parking lot of Givron’s grocery in West Point and the city barn in Hogansville. Computers, monitors, cell phones, and other electronic equipment will be accepted only at the Home Depot location Saturday.

The event educates the public on recycling and environmental conservation, and allows communities to put discarded Christmas trees to good use, officials said. The program assists local governments in complying with a state yard trimmings ban which prohibits the disposal of yard trimmings in lined municipal solid waste landfills.

All ornaments should be removed from the trees before bringing them to the collection site, officials said.

The Troup High School baseball team will be available to help unload Christmas trees and electronics.
