Mrs. Gordon, a native of Chipley, Harris County, was born March 27, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Sarah Woods and Willie Gordon. She joined the Saint Paul United Methodist Church early in life and was employed at Warm Springs Foundation for many years until retirement in 1986.
Survivors include one daughter, Lantanja Gordon Ligon; two grandchildren, Brittany Coverson and Andrew Ligon; stepson, Albert Sidney (Florence) Yates, Jr., LaGrange; two stepdaughters, Laura (James) Carter and Vivian Jones, Douglasville, Ga.; sister, Kate Moss, Pine Mountain; six step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Sidney Gordon Yates and step-daughter, Dianne Burrus.
The funeral service will be Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 3:30 PM at the Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Pine Mountain. Rev. Dwayne Majors will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will be at their home and will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 6 until 7.
