A thief used a wooden bench to smash a window and gain entry into La-Grange Veterinary Clinic at 1200 Lafayette Parkway.

The burglar stole a computer monitor and keyboard worth $150, and tried but failed to take another monitor.

A video surveillance camera indicated the break-in occurred about 1:30 a.m. Friday, but as for the intruder “you only see a partial shot of his back at one point and that’s it,” police said.

Sticky situation

Police went to the rear parking lot of Milliken and Co.’s Valway Plant on Lincoln Street where someone had poured syrup into the gas tank tank of an employee’s 2001 Ford Ranger.

The woman said she went to her car after work Friday morning and noticed syrup on the ground. Then she discovered that someone had removed the gas cap, poured syrup into the tank and put the cap back on.

The employee said she didn’t know who would do such a thing, and the parking lot’s surveillance cameras were not working, police said.

The woman didn’t start the engine, which police said would have caused additional damage.

Sticky fingers

Two Walmart employees were arrested Thursday night after multiple thefts at the store on New Franklin Road. Both employees were charged with misdemeanor shoplifting, police said.

One of them stole items worth $281.20, including cologne, DVDs and a hair trimmer. The other took three DVD movies and a digital camera worth $208.92.

Theft

A shotgun valued at $200 was taken in a burglary in the 300 block of Harwell Avenue.

Pedestrians hit

Police were called to a report of two pedestians hit at North Greenwood Street at Cox Street on Friday night.

Helicopters were called, but details were not immediately available.
