Charles Flowers is coming home.
Flowers, a Troup County native who led the Shaw Raiders to state prominence and won a state title in 2000, is taking over the Troup football program.
Flowers is still under contract at Doughety where he coached for the past three years, and once he resolves that issue, his name will go before the Troup County school board for approval, according to Troup principal Michael Lehr.
Flowers will take over from Bubba Jeter, who stepped down following the 2009 season.
“The fact that Dr. Flowers is a Troup County native and a Troup High graduate only sweents the deal for out student athletes,” Lehr said.
