A woman told police that two men with handguns forced their way into her residence in the 100 block of McGee Street about 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, threatened to shoot her children, and stole a 46-inch TV from the wall, a PlayStation 3 console and $240 cash.

The victim said she heard a knock at the door and answered it because she thought it was her husband.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call detective Collen Hewett at (706) 883-2674 or Sgt. Roger Pointer at (706) 883-2623.

Oil spill

The load shifted and a tractor-trailer hauling fourteen 55-gallon drums of industrial oil overturned about 1 p.m. Thursday on Orchard Hill Road near Kimberly-Clark, spilling about 100 gallons into a ditch where it was contained until it could be taken to a hazardous waste dump. There were no injuries.

Thefts, burglaries

— An employee of Muscogee Glass Co. said he parked his company truck outside the service entrance at LaGrange Mall, then left the truck unattended for five to 10 minutes while he went inside to see what equipment he would need for a maintenance job. When he got back, he discovered that someone had taken a saw that was lying on the tailgate, plus a box of tools from the bed of the truck. The loss was estimated at $800. A video surveillance camera in the parking lot failed to show the theft or any other useful information.

— A thief entered an unlocked car in the 100 block of Commerce Court, pushed the trunk release button and stole a laptop computer and a box of clothing from the trunk. The loss was estimated at $750.

— A burglar used a cinder block to smash a window and crawl into a residence in the 100 block of Locust Street. Stolen were two TVs valued at $500 and a laptop computer valued at $1,400.

— A watch, gold wedding band, two video game systems and a stereo with a combined value of $1,500 were stolen in a burglary in the 400 block of Somerset Place.

— A thief broke into a car in the 100 block of Fort Drive and stole about $55 from the glove compartment and center console.

Sausage again?

A resident of the first block of Eleanor Street said her grandson went berserk because the family was having sausages again for dinner.

He started throwing things around the house, including a book that struck the woman’s ankle. When she tried to call 911 on her cell phone, he snatched it away, so she called from the land line instead.

When his stepfather scolded him, the boy punched and kicked him and dared the man to hit him back. The boy refused to speak to police officers, and was booked on charges of obstruction and two counts of simple battery, then released to his mother.

Guilty plea

Willie Green Jr., 52, of LaGrange was sentenced to four years in prison and six years’ probation for stealing four pairs of sunglasses valued at $36 from the Summit convenience store at 208 Vernon St. It was his fourth shoplifting conviction.
