A Poplar Circle woman was charged after striking a vehicle in the rear at Lafayette Parkway and Horace King Street.
Police said Tommie Frye, 51, was stopped at the traffic light in a Ford F-150 when her foot slipped off the brake and she struck a Saturn SL2 driven by Nadine Conner, 44, of Reed Road in West Point.
Conner and a passenger complained of injuries but declined treatment.
Officers said Frye was unsteady on her feet, and after completing a sobriety test, she was charged with driving under the influence of drugs.
Gift checks turn out to be stolen
A thief stole a checkbook and wrote $1,000 checks to residents, sending them through the mail.
A woman called police about receiving two checks in the mail. She had called the man the checks be-longed to. He told her that he hadn’t written them, but that someone had stolen his checkbook.
Windows broken
— A vandal shattered an office window with a manhole cover and damaged a HP desktop computer at All-Pro Hyundai at 224 Commerce Ave., causing about $1,300 damage.
— An $800 window was broken at Total Image Beauty Supply at 804 Whitesville St.
— Someone broke a window in the 800 block of Hill Street, causing about $500 damage.
— One of the front windows of Piggly Wiggly at 511 S. Greenwood St. was busted, causing about $300 damage.
— The driver’s-side window of a vehicle in the 600 block of Revis Street was shattered, causing about $150 damage.
Damage
— Someone damaged three Avis Rent-A-Car vehicles at 1468 Lafayette Parkway, causing a total $450 damage
— Someone broke through a wall with a hammer and cut two padlocks of a storage facility in the 100 block of Alexander Street.
Thefts, burglaries
— A 47-inch Phillips flat-screen TV valued at $1,200 was stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Northwoods Drive.
— About $615 was stolen from a man in the 100 block of North Dawson Street.
— A thief stole a generator and a Craftsman power saw with a total value of $600 from a utility shed in the 200 block of Cherry Valley Drive.
— A Sony PlayStation 3 and a game with a total value of $330 were stolen from a residence in the 1700 block of Adamson Street.
— A samurai sword and a bronze medal with a total value of $270 were stolen from a martial arts studio in the 800 block of Hill Street.
— Various items including a phone charger and $80, with a total value of $128, were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Brown Street.
