Mrs. Mary ‘Maw Maw’ Godfrey Spraggins, 90, of West Point passed away Monday, November 10, 2008 at her home.

Born August 28, 1918 in Troup County, Mrs. Spraggins was the daughter of the late Oren Godfrey and Bernice Gilbert Godfrey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Spraggins. She was a homemaker and had been active in her church. Mrs. Spraggins was retired from Lanett Mill with 37 years of service. She was a super quilt maker. She loved to watch cooking channels on TV and cook a lot. Mrs. Spraggins was a gardener and loved to fish. She loved life, her son and her adopted children.

Survivors include her son, Howard ‘Buddy’ Spraggins of West Point, GA.; adopted children, Wayman and Judy Garsee, Nicki and Bubba Freeman and Cam Freeman, all of West Point, GA.; a sister, Vera Joyner of Stanford, N.C.; and a brother, Jim Godfrey of Acworth, GA.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Reed’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff McCartney, Rev. Kenneth Godfrey and Rev. Jay Knight officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Reed’s Chapel Baptist Church.
