The Callaway Lady Cavaliers will have to wait for that elusive first win.
The Lady Cavs made a push in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough against visiting Heard County.
Callaway trailed for the whole game, but made an admiral comeback in the fourth quarter before losing 38-32.
The loss left the Lady Cavaliers at 1-16, with their lone win coming on a forfeit in December.
The Lady Cavs outscored the Lady Braves 13-6 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough.
“We didn’t have it tonight,” head coach Michael Fannin said. “It was a tough one.”
Keela Rutledge led the team with 13 points, followed by Alexis Rutledge with six points.
Callaway’s next chance to get a win will come Saturday when it visits Macon County (7-11).
Callaway has a rematch with Heard County on Tuesday, and the game will be in Franklin.
Although the Lady Cavs are still winless, they are playing teams a lot tougher than they were earlier in the season.
Three of their past four losses have been by single digits.
Fannin said the team’s biggest shortcoming is putting together four consistent quarters.
“Some days, we’ll finish well, but those games are ones where we don’t start well,” Fannin said. “The games that we start well, we don’t finish well. It’s a combination of both.”
