Arlington Christian School’s teams showed why they’re ranked No. 1 in GISA Class AA Friday night against visiting LaGrange Academy.

In the boys’ game, Arlington beat a short-handed LaGrange Academy team 72-58, while Arlington’s girls rolled to a 73-39 win.

In the boys’ game, La-Grange Academy played without guard Malcolm Kenyon, and leading scorer Jordan Ring was limited to one half with an injury.

Ring didn’t score any points during his one half of action.

Still, the Warriors hung in there and outscored Arlington 18-9 in the final quarter.

“I just thought we played one of our best overall games,” LaGrange Academy coach Matt Dalrymple said.

Jay Miller had a big night with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Mayokun Oshinowo scored 18 points and made four 3-pointers.

Chase Wardlaw contributed eight points, and Dalrymple said Will Blackstock did a nice job of filling a void in the paint with Ring unable to go.

Blackstock had eight rebounds.

The Warriors were up 17-16 after the first quarter.

“We just came out attacking and playing good defense,” Dalrymple said.

Arlington found its footing in the second quarter, though, and it was up 42-29 at the half, and it was up 63-40 through three periods.

In the girls’ game, Arlington ran out to an 18-0 lead and never looked back.

Arlington’s pressure defense was too much to overcome, according to coach Rorie Bradley.

“We prepared for it, but we just haven’t been able to figure it out,” he said.

Dagny Langford scored 18 points, and Molly Child had seven.

LaGrange Academy’s teams return to the court on Tuesday to face Heritage before finishing the regular season on Friday against Flint River.

Both games are at LaGrange Academy.

LAFAYETTE CHRISTIAN: The Cougars came up just short in their bid to win their first GISA Region 4-A game of the season.

The Cougars were up by seven witht one minute to go, but Solid Rock rallied to force overtime.

The Cougars lost 63-59.

Jarred Pike and Adam Laster each scored 12 points for the Cougars, while Elias Wood and Daniel Gomez scored 10 points apiece.

Things were looking good for the Cougars late, but Solid Rock hit two quick 3-pointers to get within one.

After a Lafayette turnover, Solid Rock scored to go up by a point.

The Cougars made a free throw to tie it, and they got the ball back with four seconds remaining.

They were unable to get a shot off, though, and it was on to overtime.

In the four-minute extra period, the Cougars only scored two points.

“It was a great effort,” Lafayette head coach Rene Gomez said. “There were just some little things that didn’t go our way.”
