Free speech vs. big business

Dear Editor:

The Republican Party is no longer the Grand Old Party of Lincoln, Ingersol and Eisenhower. It is too conservative, focused too much on greed and controlled too much by big business. With the Republican-packed U.S. Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, we move away from democracy and toward fascism because corporations are now free to purchase elections.

Free speech for people is essential, but unlimited spending by big business on political campaigns is destructive. When free speech depends on how much money you can spend, speech is no longer free. Corporate propaganda will elect more and more right-wing puppets, and corporations will control the law. Corporate policies will prevail, and all of us will suffer with contaminated food, water and air at corporate whim. Worst of all, the corporations will contaminate our democracy.

...big businesses to include The Barney Banks, ACORN, ABC, CBS, NBC, GE, AARP, Organized Labor, Hollywood, the Pain and Suffering Legal Beagles, and who else, Mr. Smith? Does freedom of speech exclude Rush and Fox News?
